Free apps for iPod Touch and stores open on Christmas 2010, Walmart Christian hours. Retailers hope to prolong holiday bustle

The holiday season this time has been wonderful. Retailers are happy with the turn of event till now. It all started with Black Friday sales. It was a bumper one as hundreds of thousands of crazy people went on the street looking for highly discounted items.

And those who missed it did the marketing from the comfort of their homes on Internet. At that time the retailers had their full and it was understood that things would come to an end. But retailers and experts fail to understand the mood of buyers.

Many had no idea that Christmas sales would be so huge. They were apprehensive as most of Europe and the US were hit hard by atrocious weather with record snowing.

The prediction was that businesses would be hit. But nothing like this happened as reports have surfaced of record sales. Interestingly, a large number of people waited till the last day that is Friday to flock at markets and purchase as many gifts possible for their family members and beloved one.

After the huge sales many had thought that retailers and stores would slow down. But the opposite of this has happened as malls and stores opened earlier than usual.

They did all this to attract as many shoppers as possible. It is being expected that shops will be opened till the carols are being sung and the presents unwrapped. All efforts are on to prolong the holiday bustle. Michaya Pollard, who like others also invaded stores at the last moment, said: "The air alone makes me want to shop."
