Kennedy Center Honors 2010: Oprah & Paul McCartney Honored
Kennedy Center Honors 2010: President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle hosted this year's Kennedy Center Honors in D.C. on Sunday night.
Oprah Winfrey, Beatle Paul McCartney, dancer-choreographer Bill T. Jones, country singer Merle Haggard and Broadway composer Jerry Herman each earned the arts awards not only for their talents, but also for bringing people together, the Associated Press writes.
For the occasion, Michelle wore a beaded scarlet gown by Naeem Khan and silver earrings.

Oprah Winfrey conquers Washington at the Kennedy Center Honors
Oprah Winfrey certainly gives us a lot to talk about — thank you, Lady O.
She cries on a Barbara Walters special Thursday on ABC. The talk queen announces her latest book selection on today’s show at 4 p.m. on WFTV-Channel 9. The choice is actually two books: “A Tale of Two Cities” and “Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens.
Winfrey picked up the Kennedy Center Honor last night in Washington. The event airs Dec. 28 on CBS. The other honorees were Paul McCartney, Merle Haggard, Jerry Herman and Bill T. Jones. But Winfrey drew most of the attention this morning because of the people who showed up to salute her. They were John Travolta, Barbara Walters, Julia Roberts, Sidney Poitier and Jennifer Hudson, who performed a song from “The Color Purple.” Chris Rock lauded Winfrey as “the most powerful person in the world … and sitting next to her is Barack Obama.”
